“I will always love you”

Painted in 2003, when allowing my 10 yr old only child to go and live temporarily with his father, whilst I hoped to restore my life from a difficult situation, financially, stress levels, health, etc. The new green sprouts at the bottom of the picture and the strong tree growing represent the new, fresh life I wished for my son. He was taken abroad and the estrangement began. Nowadays, all I have is a few formal emails from my now grown son, with no sign of closeness and affection we had just before he left. I wish he would understand that the image of me he has in his mind is based on false information. I long to reconnect, to melt down the mental barrier he has against me, and to heal the rift that wounded us both so deeply.
